THE PROGRAM

and

TEACH

We teach sustainability -- both personal and environmental. Students learn workforce skills as well as the importance of recycling, repurposing, and thinking out of the box.

ACTION

We partner with communities throughout Colorado to bring more handmade goods to the market. We are proud to be made in the USA.

ELIGIbiliTY

Students can join our program through the help of Garfield County Human Services, or through the college's Work-Study program. We also enjoy having volunteers around!

WORK WITH US

  • Students who are on TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) can ask their case manager to be assigned to GarCo Design Works. You can work as many as 35 hours a week.

  • Students can also do work study to earn money while they are enrolled in college courses. Talk to your campus financial aid advisers!

  • Volunteers can join our team, learn the skills, and become a part of our family. Contact us directly with any questions you may have,

  • Non-profit organizations can partner with us to make their products. You may tweak current designs to help fit them to your needs or start from scratch. Click here to see our products

OUR MATERIAL

Say hello to "blue wrap!"

(also known as "sterile wrap")

This fabric is made from a strong polypropylene plastic, so it can be washed and sterilized. However, in the medical setting, it can’t be reused.

With an estimated 255 million pounds of blue wrap being thrown away each year, we thought, "why don’t we use it?" By reusing the fabric to make our bags, it helps replace single-use plastic bags!

We receive this fabric from four local hospitals: Aspen Valley (Aspen), Valley View (Glenwood Springs), Grand River (Rifle), and Community (Grand Junction).
